Field Layout Engineer

Job Summary:

Provide and maintain horizontal and vertical building control and layout including as-builts through the life of commercial construction projects.

Essential Functions:

Supervise the work of an assistant to complete tasks in an efficient manner. Able to move about a multi-story structure with equipment to perform work. Minimum work week of 40 hours with opportunity for additional hours. Flexibility to change responsibilities as the project progresses through the stages of construction from foundations through interior build out.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Proficient in the use of layout tools including total station, builders level, tape and plumb line. Capable of reading construction drawings both paper and electronic to transfer information to line and grade layout for the construction of building elements. Knowledgeable in the software and systems to input information from construction documents into programming usable to total station. 

Equipment Logistics Specialist

Job Summary:

This person will be responsible for the safe and on-time delivery of vehicles, machinery and equipment to various construction sites.  They will operate a 1-ton truck and trailer on a daily basis, and will be responsible for loading and unloading both large an small equipment within the yard and on busy job sites.  This job will require the ability to use a computer to track and document equipment moves.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize positive communication skills to work in a respectful team environment.

  • Deliver equipment to field locations using 1-ton truck & trailer (Class A CDL Required).

  • Perform light vehicle & equipment maintenance duties.

  • Document & log repair & maintenance records.

  • Record & track equipment/cargo deliveries.

  • Operate large & small equipment with the purpose of moving to/from job sites.

  • Inspect & replace defective parts as necessary.

  • Work with others to coordinate on-time equipment delivery.

  • Occasionally perform long-distance driving (in-state).

  • Comply with truck driving rules and regulations while obeying traffic laws.

  • Properly arrange, balance and secure equipment/cargo within the vehicle.

  • Maintain a detailed log of working hours in compliance with state and federal regulations.

  • Verify vehicles and equipment are in proper working order before driving/delivering.

  • Plan routes to meet delivery schedules.

  • Reporting defects, accidents and violations

  • Performing daily maintenance of truck (refueling, cleaning, etc.)

  • Loading and unloading trucks/trailers with forklifts and pallet jacks

  • Performing pre- and post-trip vehicle inspection reports

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be generally proficient in the basics of using a computer

  • Ability to lift or manipulate some heavy objects

  • Demonstrate proper use & safety of large & small equipment

  • Demonstrate safe driving & equipment operation habits

 

Education and Experience:

At least two years related experience required.

 

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
